Hello World! A little backstory

By

I’m going to be honest, I have been obsessing over how to start this for a while now. Like how / where do you even begin writing a blog, and who even cares enough to read it? But here goes nothing. I guess I’ll start with our move to Germany and go from there. We arrived in Frankfurt at the end of February as most workers do; the idea of a plan, but nothing concrete. The move was a nightmare of planning and replanning and waiting. Finally about 3 weeks before we were set to move, we were given the go ahead to get the move scheduled. Three weeks to hire movers and ship our items, get our stuff packed and in order, get the needed paperwork, book our flights, and our hotel stay until we could get a place to live. Not at all nerve wracking, right?

Oh yea- did I mention I was 6 months pregnant at the time? Yes- let’s back track for a second- I found out I was officially pregnant the day we got the call that we had to opportunity to move to Germany. New baby :: New Country not scary at all.

Telling my husband I am pregnant at a hotel room in New York City

Anyways, the weeks fly by and we get everything scheduled and its finally time to begin the trek across the ocean. We get to Germany and our home for the next 60 days is one hotel room with me, my husband, and our two dachshunds. To say that wasn’t ideal was putting it lightly. Day two in a new country, different language, and no support, our one dachshund decided to injure his paw. At 11pm we are rushing to find an emergency vet. We spend the night in the vet hospital and then the next few weeks carrying him around.

Every three days I had to leave the hotel room with the dogs for two hours while they cleaned it. So we wandered around in their stroller.

Fast forward through a blur of a few weeks- alot of paperwork and trainings- and we are finally moving into what is going to be our new home for the next couple years. We decided to move to a small town outside of Wiesbaden in order to have a yard, space to move and play, and raise a baby. Everything is going great and finally falling into place.

Our beautiful home for the next few years

We move into our home around April with me being due in June. We move in with temporary furniture since our furniture was shipped so late it wasn’t yet in the country. I do not recommend military temporary furniture. It is old and tacky and uncomfortable. We were given a full size bed for both my husband and I even with me being pregnant. Naturally my husband slept on the couch (this will be a recurring theme) and I in the bed with the dogs. After a month of that, we finally get our own furniture shipped and moved in. So this is mid May and my due date is June 12th. We rush to get our furniture moved and unpacked and my husband builds the entire nursery that week. Phew it was alot.

Anyways we get that done and my husband’s coworker’s spouses (damn- did you follow that?) decide to throw me a baby shower. It was so much fun and so lovely especially after feeling a little alone these last few months. That day I was actually able to even eat without being sick. It was a great day all around.

It’s actually Baby Resignalo but I’m not mad at it.

The next day I’m still feeling amazing for the first time all pregnancy. I go in for my weekly checkup and boom- gotta be rushed to the hospital. I call my husband and we go and I’m stuck in a hospital room for 3 days trying to be induced due to preeclampsia. I eventually deliver and baby Kyllian Davis Resignalo is born on June 4, 2025. I may get into more detail about the birth and weeks after but I don’t want to trauma dump on here just yet. So I’ll save it for another day.

So that’s about it. If you are still reading kudos to you. 6ish months have gone by and we’ve done a lot of traveling with many more planned. I’ll start posting about our travels in the next post. I believe I’m going to start in chronological order from the time we moved here. I also may throw in some random countries / places we’ve gone prior to the move- you know spice it up a bit. Until next time.

A little photo teaser for my next post. Can you figure out the place?
